Silobreaker's Value Proposition
In contrast to a traditional search engine, Silobreaker looks at the data it finds like a person does.
It recognises things – companies, people, topics, places – and puts them in context.
Silobreaker is so much more than a news aggregator. The unique combination of both content
aggregation and analytical tools and graphics enables users to find things faster and spend
less time searching the old fashion way. Silobreaker should be used by anyone who wants to
get more from news and current affairs on the internet in less time. With an initial focus on
business, global issues, energy, science and technology, Silobreaker takes information from
some 13,000 news sites, blogs and multimedia sources, and presents its users with an unparalleled
insight into the stories of the day.
INSIGHT AS A SERVICE - WHAT DO WE MEAN?
360° Search
360° Search gives you a comprehensive and wide-ranging overview of all that is relevant to your search.
- News, Blogs, Reports and Audio/Video content
- Quick-links to Silobreaker Network, Trends and Hot Spots
- Fact sheet (if available)
- Related people, places, companies, organizations, topics and keyphrases
- Quotes
- Content volume chart
Everything is clickable and allows you to drill-down or quickly switch focus to gain higher relevance or faster insight.
Network Search
The Network extracts and visualises relationships or associations found in your search result in real-time, none of which have been pre-determined or manually configured in any way. This enables you to see beyond your original focus .
By hovering over the midpoint of any relationship you can easily see the articles that explain the association.
The levers above the Network enables you to change the composition or number of nodes.
Hot Spots Search
Hot Spots provides auto-generated geo-mapping of news events and visualises global or local “hot spots” for any topic that you have selected.
The size of the hot spot indicates the size of the news story in terms of article volume and any hot spot can be annotated by hovering over it and further analysed by clicking on it.
Trends Search
Trends provides “media attention trends” based on news coverage.
Compare people, companies or products to see who or what attracts most media attention. Or study what political issues a candidate seem to be most associated with in an upcoming election.
Silobreaker Trends enables you to get insight from the news flow faster and better than ever before.
Filter
Any page or visualisation in Silobreaker can be filtered to narrow your search and improve the relevance.
For instance, you may want to filter the news around a politician by a topic, around a company by a product, around a country by a crime, etc, etc.
There are two ways to add a filter to a page:
- All search results will provide related people, places, topics, companies, etc displayed in the right column of the page. By hovering over a name in the right column and by clicking on the Filter-icon next to it, the page or visualisation will be filtered on the name or term you selected.
- You can also add a filter by typing in the term you want as a filter in the “search box”, select the terms as suggested by Silobreaker, and click on the filter button.
